Exile, the impossibility of free movement, detention, such themes; Hervé Sika leads us on a profound and committed contemplation on the physical and mental hardship of illegal immigration. In Franchir Allègrement, Hervé Sika dwells on the crossing of frontiers, sometimes attempted and reattempted to the point of the body becoming totally exhausted. In Rétention, the subject of the piece is migrants who are imprisoned, facing a frontier which they do not have the authority to cross. There is the recurring question of how the human body feels when held constantly in detention; here Hervé Sika adeptly reminds us of the principle upon which dance is based.
